Abstract

Aiming at the geological characteristics and environmental requirements of Zaodu Bridge, vertical rotating steel box-concrete composite arch bridge is newly proposed relying on comprehensive analysis on the structure and construction technology of the existing concrete arch bridges, in which steel and concrete are respectively used in different regions according to mechanical requirements of the structure thus the material superiority of both steel and concrete can be fully made use of. In the construction process, the closure of steel box arch is completed through vertical rotating of the two half-arches and then the steel box-concrete composite arch is formed after the concrete of the arch foot in the steel box and the concrete of mid-span above the steel box poured accordingly. In this method, the security and efficiency of construction are ensured with less negative influences upon the surroundings compared to conventional construction of arch bridge.
