Abstract

A molecularly imprinted polymer with cholesterol esterase activity was prepared. Polymerization of N,N′-diethyl(4-vinylphenyl)amidine in the presence of the phosphate transition state analogue 2 followed by removal of the print molecule generated a catalytically active polymer with Km of 3.7 mM and kcat of 2.2·10–4 min–1, respectively. A relative rate enhancement of 27-fold over the background buffer uncatalyzed reaction and of 2.4-fold in the presence of the control polymer were observed.
