Abstract

Substantiation of the choice is considered for an alternative 20G grade low-alloy structural steel instead of structural steel 40 for manufacturing bottom-hole pumping rod joint couplings. Steel 20G is most economic, available, and in many ways is no worse than steel 40. Laboratory and industrial tests are carried out for testing couplings prepared from steel 20G. It is established that with respect to the criterion of thread cutting the safe load factor is 5.75–9.84.
