Abstract

Battery voltage? Check. Avionics off? Check. Flaps down? Check. Oil level? Check. Ready for first incision? We are all familiar with the disaster movie cliché of the pilot and co-pilot of a doomed airliner earnestly running through the pre-flight checklist only to succumb to food poisoning by both having the fish. But the reality is that the humble checklist has been the mainstay strategy for reducing human error factors in aviation safety since the 1930s.
