Abstract

The tranquilizer chlorpromazine has been shown to be a potent local anesthetic. In this study chlorpromazine was injected into the mandibular gingiva of dogs to study possible irritating effects on the oral tissue. Results showed no evidence of irritation. Chlorpromazine may be useful as a local anesthetic in dentistry.
