Abstract
This study presents a novel approach in the field of wastewater treatment, focusing on the development of an eco-friendly magnetic adsorbent, CS/PVAc/MnFe2O4, for the efficient removal of methyl orange (MO) from aqueous solutions. The combination of chitosan, polyvinyl acetate, and manganese ferrite demonstrated a remarkable MO removal efficiency of 96.7% in just 75 min at a pH = 3, utilizing only 0.03 g of adsorbent and 50 mg/L of MO. The material was thoroughly characterized using FT-IR, XRD, SEM, and VSM techniques, confirming its effectiveness. The study successfully applied the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetics models to describe the adsorption isotherms and kinetics, revealing a maximum adsorption capacity of 80.58 mg/g. The findings underscore the potential of CS/PVAc/MnFe2O4 as a cost-effective and efficient solution for wastewater treatment, particularly in the removal of organic contaminants. This research contributes to the advancement of adsorbent materials and recommends further exploration for industrial applications and development.
