Abstract

Transverse domain walls (DWs) in a U-shaped ferromagnetic nanostrip possess many dynamic properties different from those in flat nanostrip. By breaking the top–bottom symmetry, the U-shaped strip endows DWs with chirality-dependent structures, mobilities and Walker breakdown fields. More interestingly, Walker breakdown in U-shaped nanostrip is hierarchy, with two different modes. Micromagnetic simulations predicted that DWs with different chiralities have different robustness and (anti)vortex dynamics in Walker breakdown. Our results provide a method for manipulating DW chirality.
