Abstract

Temperature dependence of nonlinear susceptibility of Ni 75.3Pt 1.3Mn 23.4 shows a singular peak irrelevant to the spin freezing and ferromagnetic transitions. The peak is more pronounced than that observed in Ni 76.6Mn 23.4, while it is not observed in the Pd-doped sample Ni 75.3Pd 1.6Mn 23.1. The difference in magnetic singularity correlates with the magnitude of magnetic anisotropy. This characteristic feature can be interpreted in terms of a possible chiral spin ordering appearing in Ni(Pt, Pd)Mn.
