Abstract

In chiral gold nanotubes (AuNTs), the alternating helicoidal electric currents generate the electromagnetic fields and nanotubes become the radiating solenoid nano-antennas. The longitudinal and azimuthal fields are calculated using the Maxwell’s equations with account of the AuNTs geometry, band structure, and ballistic electron transport model. It is shown that very large fields can be realized in the nano-volumes using the AuNTs nano-antennas and that the eigenfrequencies of field components lie in the x-ray range.
