Abstract

The one-loop effective action for massive chiral fermions coupled to scalar and vector fields is evaluated in the low energy limit using proper-time techniques. The relationship between the Bardeen anomaly, Pauli-Villars regularisation and Goldstone-Wilczek currents is discussed, and a general form for the abnormal parity effective action, which incorporates the Wess-Zumino term, is derived.
