Abstract

Optically active (1,2-disubstituted arene)chromium complexes with an amine and a hydroxy group in the two ortho benzylic positions were stereoselectively synthesized from a commercially available α(R)-phenylethylamine. These chiral chromium complexes can be used a chiral ligands in a catalytic asymmetric ethylation of benzaldehyde with diethylzinc. Also, moderate enantioselectivity was observed in the 1,4-conjugated addition reaction of chalcone
