Abstract

This article examines news reports and analysis on major European affairs by Chinese correspondents based in Brussels. Along with the rapid development of EU–China relations and the need for China to strengthen international communication, more Chinese media groups send their journalists to Brussels. The article studies the three mostly covered issues by Chinese media: the European debt crisis, the Juncker Plan and the refugee crisis. By analyzing the Chinese angle on these issues, the article revisits EU–China relations and points out the major strength in their economic relationship and differences in their political understanding.
