one of eight courses the nursing department offers during the onemonth January interim term, all designed to be intellectually challenging and academically sound, while providing change of pace and a new outlook for the student. The full quota of 20 students signed up for the Chinatown course, seven from liberal arts and the rest from nursing. Nine of the students were seniors, ten juniors, and one a freshman. The students in the course had, in general, only limited knowledge about New York's Chinatown. Obviously, we and our 20 students could not simply descend on the community.
