Abstract

The purpose of this encyclopedia entry is to employ a children's rights framework to examine how conceptualizations of children and youth shape adults’ views of children's participation rights within the context of activism in the United States. A secondary aim is to consider how adults can support youth activism efforts as partners and allies. Implications for policy and practice are discussed.
