Abstract

Postural control is a complex ability built on the cooperation of dynamic sensory mechanisms, namely, the visual, vestibular, and somatosensory systems. The collecting body of research signifies that visual experience during early childhood has a substantial impact on postural stability control, and this confirms the crucial role of vision in postural stability. In addition, since children rely more profoundly on the visual system to control their posture than adults do, this reinforces the concept that maintaining optimal visual function is crucial for good postural balance in children and younger adults.
