Abstract

I was born in 1925 in China’s Shanghai International Settlement (British Concession and American Concession in Shanghai was combined in 1863 and was renamed as Shanghai International Settlement in 1899.) when China was a very poor semi-feudal and semi-colonial society. I am now 94 years old and have witnessed many social changes since then, especially the significant social changes in China since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in 1949. I have both worked and lived in the PRC for nearly 70 years.
