Abstract

ABSTRACTA telephone survey of 25 veteran childbirth educators revealed a range of annual earnings from $600‐$40,000. Sixteen teach childbirth education part‐time. Most teach several different types of classes, such as early pregnancy, exercise, and postpartum classes, and most have diversified into writing, publishing, making and distributing teaching aids, consulting, and continuing education. Class fees range from $10‐$160. Common approaches to the field, financial management, and views of problems in the 1980s are discussed. (BIRTH 10:4, Winter 1983)
