Abstract

This commentary discusses the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) program developed by WHO and UNICEF that has proved to improve standardized management of common illnesses and increase health-service use. It states that the inititally strongly funded program is now lacking in funds but is necessary for a global recovery that includes human resources for maternal and child health and education in the worlds poorest countries.
