Abstract

The subject of child sexual abuse is taboo in India. There is a conspiracy of silence. Large percentage of people feel this is a western problem. Part of the reason of course lies in a traditional conservative family and community structure that does not talk about sex and sexuality at all. In May 2012, India's parliament took a major step by passing the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
