Abstract

Promoting child health in Brazil faces significant challenges due to socioeconomic diversity and regional inequalities, impacting the effective use of the Child Health Record. The aim of this study was to analyze the challenges and strategies for the effective use of the Child Health Record in monitoring and promoting child health in Brazil. This is an Integrative Review of the literature, following the PRISMA protocol. Searches were conducted in databases such as LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF, Redalyc, and SciELO in September 2023. Inclusion criteria: original articles in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, published between 2018 and 2023. Exclusion criteria: reviews, duplicates, theses, dissertations, books, and conference abstracts. The sample consisted of 13 studies. The main emerging thematic categories were: challenges in training health professionals, lack of parental engagement, regional variations in adherence and completion of the record, and strategies to improve its use, such as integration with computerized health systems and continuous training. The Child Health Record is essential for monitoring child health but faces significant challenges that compromise its effectiveness. The implementation of public policies for training health professionals and awareness campaigns for parents is recommended to improve adherence and completion of the record, ensuring healthy and comprehensive child development in Brazil.
