Abstract

Chicken Swarm Optimization (CSO) Algorithm is comparably a new bio-inspired algorithm which erstwhile applied to numerous complex optimization scenarios. CSO is based upon impersonating the hierarchical order as well as behavior in flocks of chicken roosters, hens and chicks. The aim of the present study is to apply CSO on clustering routing protocol to optimize the energy constraints of wireless sensor networks (WSN). Based on the simulation results, a number of prominent trends have been commented upon. The simulation results reveal a decrement in energy consumption in the sensor nodes, which may lead to a promising outcome. This new energy proficient clustering mechanism espouses the network life-time. The comparison with other clustering hierarchical protocol i.e. LEACH is also presented to confirm the efficacy of CSO based clustering protocol.
