Abstract

The bone marrow (BM) niche is a complex microenvironment that supports healthy hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) throughout life. In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Duarte etal. (2018) reveal the spatio-temporal progress of leukemic cells as they invade and occupy the niche, ultimately outcompeting native HSCs.
