Abstract

The chess problem solver's experience in time is importantly related to the experience of reading Nabokovian narrative. Two of Nabokov's own chess problems that are included in Speak, Memory not only reveal his fascination with the experience of possible and actual events but model the way the autobiography discovers and sustains connections between events.
