Abstract
The dental profession has progressed towards practicing preventive dentistry and adopting tooth-preserving procedures. This has been in response to advances in materials science; a greater understanding that restorations are not only expensive but also destructive, this led to the conclusion that a restoration should be as minimal and biologically based as possible. The introduction of Carisolv focused again interest on the chemomechanical removal of caries. The advantages claimed for the Carisolv technique are of effective & painless removal of caries lesions without affecting sound parts of the tooth and periodontal tissues. A mechanism that is used in over 80% of caries incidences without using neither local analgesia nor drill. It completely removes dentine and cementum caries, and strengthens the bond of adhesive materials.
