Abstract

Summary The developing chick embryo is highly susceptible to infection with E. typhosa. The experimental possibilities of the chick-embryo method for experimentation with typhoid bacilli are exemplified in quantitative tests demonstrating: (a) protection by an anti-typhoid rabbit immune serum, (b) effect of sulfathiazole, (c) cumulative effect of combinations of sub-optimal amounts of both antibody and drug.
