Abstract

AbstractThe chemistry of trinuclear and tetranuclear heterometallic acetylide complexes, LWOs3(CO)11(CCR) and LWM2(CO)8(CCR), L = Cp and Cp*; M = Os and Ru, is presented. Included in this account are syntheses, characterization and reactivity, with a particular focus on reactions with disubstituted alkyne molecules. The reactivity and fluxionality of these acetylide complexes provides a plausible model for ligand‐mediated metal‐core rearrangement and the transformation of small organic molecules on catalytic metal surfaces.
