Abstract

electrophilic additions to the enol ether part of 3,4-epoxy-2-methylene oxolanes are described. The isomer resulting from an anti addition relative to the oxirane substituent was predominantly obtained. With phenylselenyl bromine as electrophile, a complete diastereoselectivity was achieved, again in favor of the trans isomer.
