Abstract
I HAVE previously reported1,2 high pressure phase transformations for garnets of the almandite–pyrope (Fe3Al2Si3O12–Mg3Al2Si3O12). Here the chemical formula and the crystal structure for the high pressure phase of almandite-rich garnets quenched from a loading pressure of approximately 120×105 kPa and temperatures of about 1,400–1,800 °C are given.
