Abstract

A general description and review is given of a new type of anion‐deficient perovskite‐based structure where the perovskite parent structure is fragmented by periodically spaced translational interfaces. These interfaces demonstrate properties similar to those of the crystallographic shear (CS) planes in the ReO3‐type oxides and can be considered to be CS planes in the perovskite framework that contains cations at the A positions. The building principles and chemical compositions of such CS structures will be discussed.
