Abstract

Ultraviolet photoemission studies of pyridine, acetone, and dimethyl sulfoxide adsorbed on ZnO(11̄00) show the involvement of molecular orbitals having π, π ★, and nitrogen and oxygen lone-pair character in formation of the chemisorption bond. No decomposition products from adsorption of these molecules are observed on the surface.
