Abstract
Lithiation of tris(benzotriazol-1-yl)methane gives the tris(benzotriazolyl)methyl carbanion which affords substitution products with many electrophiles. Acidic hydrolysis of them affords the corresponding carboxylic acids in good yield. The syntheses of several α-functionalized carboxylic acids are described
