AbstractThe (+)‐configurated as well as the racemic bromohydrin (I) is converted to triphenylene 1,2‐oxide (IV) (the yields refer to the products derived from racemic (I)); in both cases a racemic mixture is obtained in accord with PMO calculations which predict rapid racemization via the corresponding oxepin.
