AbstractReaction of propargyl alcohol (I) with oxirane (II) in the presence of lithium in liquid ammonia and subsequent hydrogenation yield the 2‐pentene‐1,5‐diol (III) which is coupled with the oxo compounds (IV) to form the dihydrodioxocins (V).
