AbstractThe silyl derivative (Ib) of mevinolin (Ia) reacts with benzylamine (II) to give the ring‐opened intermediate (III) which yields the 6(S)‐ epimer (IVb) of (Ia) upon recyclization with mesyl chloride and triethylamine and subsequent desilylation.
