Abstract

AbstractBulk dense polycrystalline (low porosity) Mg9Sn5 is prepared by ball milling of a stoichiometric powder mixtures of Mg and Sn (planetary ball mill, 450 rpm, incremental addition of Mg) followed by current activated pressure assisted densification (spark plasma sintering) with an applied mechanical pressure of 112 MPa and temperatures up to 600 °C.
