AbstractThe tetrahydroindandione (I) is reduced with diisobutylaluminum hydride in the presence of HMPA, cuprous iodide, and various organometallic compounds to form mixtures of the cis‐ and trans‐fused perhydroindandiones (II) and the hydroxytetrahydroindanone (III).
