AbstractThe 1‐trimethylsilylmethylcycloalkanecarbaldehydes (Ia), (Ib), and (Id) as well as the analogous ketones (Xa) and (Xc) react with the silyl thioether (II) in the presence of trimethylsilyl triflate or tin tetrachloride to give ring enlargement products as outlined in the reaction scheme.
