AbstractThe hexahydrochloride (IIIb)·6 HCl of the host (IIIb) in aqueous solutions forms specific 1:1 complexes with aromatic molecules such as acenaphthylene, perylene, phenanthrene, pyrene, triphenylene, fluoranthene, benzo(def)chrysene (≡1,2‐benzpyrene), and benzo(ghi)perylene (≡1,12‐benzperylene), when the guest has a topology suitable to fit the cavity of the host (IIIb).
