AbstractThe (S)‐((Ia), (IIIa)) and (R)‐((Ib), (IIIb)) enantiomeric imidazolones are prepared by resolution of the respective racemates by use of chiral mandelic acid (→ (I)) or gulonic acid (→ (III)); they are converted to the enantiomerically pure derivatives (II) or (IV) by conventional methods.
