Abstract
Abstractα,β‐Unsaturated ketones such as α‐ionone (I), (‐)‐carvone (V), and the cholestenone (VII) react with the phosphorocyanidate (II) and LiCN to form phosphate intermediates which are directly reduced by lithium in liquid ammonia, yielding the corresponding alkenes (IV), (VI), and (VIII).
