AbstractAt temp. above 400 °C, instead of the expected dibenzyl ether, anthracene (III) is formed ‐ via the intermediate (II) ‐ in the heterogeneously catalyzed condensation of (I); additionally, the products (IV) and (V) of disproportionation are obtained.
