Abstract

AbstractIn contrast to conjugated enones (as reported previously), alkylidenemalonic ester derivatives (III), (VII), (IX) and (XIII) generally give high yields of conjugate addition products on treatment with organomanganese compounds generated from MnCl2 and Grignard or organolithium reagents (detailed study of reaction conditions in various transformations of (III) and (IX)).
