AbstractThe domino‐Michael‐type Friedel—Crafts alkylation/cyclization of β‐naphthol (and its 6‐bromo derivative) with arylidene Meldrum′s acid derivatives is catalyzed by a bifunctional thiourea catalyst to give the title compounds in high yield but only moderate enantioselectivities.
