AbstractPhotoexcitation within the CT absorption bands of EDA complexes of anthracene (TCNE) donors (D) (9‐X‐anthracenes; X: ‐ H, ‐ N02, ‐ CHO, ‐ CN, ‐ Ph) with tetracyanoethylene or tetranitromethane acceptors (A) reveals the presence of unusual ternary (2:1) species of the general form [(D,D),A]; containing anthracene as n‐dimer radical cations (D,D)"′.
