Abstract

AbstractBased on EMF measurements with a junctionless cell (lead amalgam cathode, test solution containing Pb2+ and OH‐ in a NaClO4/NaBr electrolyte, silver anode coated with AgBr), a method is developed that allows the study of complex formation equilibria between Pb2+ and OH‐ up to OH‐ concentrations of ∼5 M. It is shown that at OH‐ concentrations > 1 M, appreciable amounts of (Pb(OH)4)2‐ and (Pb(OH)6)4‐ are formed besides (Pb(OH)3)‐.
