Abstract

Abstract The reactions of ammonium hydrogen fluoride with oxides of vanadium in its three different oxidation states are discussed. With vanadium in its +5 and +4 states, the products are oxofluoro compounds while with +3 state, the product is a hexafluoro compound. Thermal behaviour of all the three products namely, [NH4]3VOF6 1 5H2O, [NH4]3VOF5 and [NH4]3VF6 is discussed.
