Abstract

AbstractA comparison of the nucleophilic elimination from cyclopropanes such as (I) with the reaction of the unstrained analogues such as (III) and (IV) shows that the enhanced nucleofugality (about 9 log units) for the pair (Ia) and (IIIa) corresponds to decreased free energies of activation for leaving‐group expulsion by about 53 kJ/mol.
