Abstract

AbstractThe results of slow strain rate experiments at 30, 65, and 100 °C show A516 steel to be more susceptible to SCC (stress corrosion cracking) in caustic aluminate (3.58 M NaOH + 0.67 M Al2O3·3 H2O) and Bayer solutions (3.58 M NaOH, 0.67 M Al2O3·3 H2O, 0.46 M Na2CO3, 0.02 M Na2SO4, some organic impurities) than in 2.25 M NaOH solution.
