AbstractThe Strecker‐type reaction of o‐formylbenzoic acid (I) with silyl cyanide (III) and benzylic or aliphatic amines catalyzed by OSU‐6, an MCM‐41 type hexagonal mesoporous silica, can be tuned to generate two different products: substituted 3‐oxoisoindoline‐1‐carbonitriles (IV) at 23°C or the corresponding carboxamides (VI) at 78°C.
