Abstract

The activation energies of dielectric relaxation ΔHτ in three isobutyl halides in the liquid state are found to be almost equal to the mean value of the electrostatic self energies of the trans and gauche isomers in the corresponding compounds. The energy difference between the two isomers in the liquid state obtained from the dipole moment measurements agree well with those obtained by the spectroscopic method.
